I'm giving it a shot but I bought a developer-2 about an hour and a half ago and it still is not provisioned. Perhaps a lot of people are jumping at the special.

I have seen a half hour delay on any re-image request

I tried installing IncrediblePBX12 on the 512Mbps Ubuntu 14.4 plan no joy. Can anyone tell me the best PIAF solution to attempt to install? I especially loveIncrediblePBX12 because of the Knock installation :)
I also tried Centos 6.5 with PIAF3 no joy on hostus

More detail? I installed I-PBX on the Developer 1 C-a-C platform under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS without issue, and it has been running smoothly for several weeks:

I have a developer-2 ($35 during half-price sale) and installed Centos 6.6 LAMP. Then I was able to install PIAF3 (Green w/FreePBX 11) with no issues. I then installed IncredibleFax11 with no issues. I did not attempt to install Incredible PBX. I upgraded FreePBX to Version 12 and did all the updates with no issues. I've got plenty of memory and disk and I'm sure I could install Incredible PBX if I chose to.

I used the Nerd Vittles guide at http://nerdvittles.com/?p=9526

Perhaps the Ubuntu flavor has issues. I did notice that when I spun up an Ubuntu 14.04 cloud, it took a great deal of memory and disk space. That's when I reimaged it to Centos 6.6 LAMP.

thanks again, it seems to be installing now. How do you secure your server? I like PortKnocker a lot but I have no clue how to install it

You need to learn how to search the forums here and look at NerdVittles.com. There is an excellent reference on how to do it.

** UPDATE 2/2/2015 ***

In fairness to Cloud At Cost, the latency and poor VOIP experience on my instance seems to have stabilized and almost disappeared. Perhaps the server I was on was overloaded and they did some load balancing. Perhaps their LAN connections had issues.

In any case, I'll take back my bad-mouthing them as my system is virtualized on their cloud now. I 'm not having any major voice quality issues. The web interface to FreePBX is still kind of slow but overall, the system is performing adequately.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I moved my PIAF installation to a "Developer-2" Cloud At Cost environment over the past couple of days. Yesterday, it worked well but I noticed some degradation of voice quality at times. Today, during the morning, the amount of dropped packets was unacceptable. I have returned to my on-site hardware solution. This was not due to my home internet connection. I was testing the system from my workplace (which utilizes ISDN-PRI's to AT&T) and the voice quality was terrible. Even test calls to system internal recordings on the cloud system were very bad quality.

I'd be curious to hear about the experiences of other pioneers on this cloud solution. I'm not prepared to "throw the baby out with the bath water" at this time but I'd be curious if others have "best practices" for cloud servers that I may have missed.

I am not at all stressing my I-PBX Developer I instance at Cloud-at-Cost. This is no mission-critical installation, and I mostly created it to tinker with Asterisk12/FPBX12 on Ubuntu14. Nevertheless, each time I have used it (several calls per day, inbound and outbound, since the last reboot over 3 weeks ago) I have experienced acceptable audio quality. Just lucky, I guess.

After reading your post I placed a call using a Circlenet Trunk on the C-a-C PBX to an IPComms DID terminating at an off-line extension on my PogoMobile PBX. I figured that was as hack-y as it gets. I left a minute-long message. Then I logged-in to that PBX extension to listen to the recording. It was fine; no obvious drop outs, jitter, glitches, etc.

I have gemeinschaft3 and piaf3 running on developer 1 instances, both have zram enabled, and the C@C panel suggests the cpus are being thrashed, yet neither virtual machine is having an issue.

Gemeinschaft has shown occasional sip ping latency of 317ms seconds, but goes back to 17ms immediately

My experience is much like yours. I was hoping with their "upgrades" made a few weeks ago, this would improve their network. During my testing, I would be on a conference call and all would be fine, then choppy and garbled voice. Packet loss appeared to be over saturation of their network.

I wish there was a mechanism that would be in place that would ensure that each user maintained a minimum up/down. I believe that would solve the issue. Until such time, I use this box as a backup.

Reply 54 was addressing Kenn.

For those not experiencing any issues, I think you may want to test by keeping your system up and using for a 24 hour period.

Yes, Trimline2, I assumed you were responding to kenn10.

My instance is up 24/7 and has been for close to 4 weeks. But, I'm certainly not using it 24/7; I'm not really using it at all and so of course don't experience the trouble that consistent users would see.

Maybe i'll add a free GV trunk and call something that plays music or whatever and listen to it in the background while I do other things. That might uncover the glitches that you and others have mentioned.

When I review my logs I don't see any of the "blablabla is unreachable" that I usually see when things go south...

Cloud At Cost works great for web servers. Not sure I'd rely upon it for VoIP hosting. That's why we have RentPBX. :Angel anim:
RentPBX doesn't load up servers with folks running various processor-intensive apps that can bring a server to its knees. :driving:

wardmundy that would appear to be the case here. My CPU utilization on the inactive VM is still close to 100%. I guess I now have a $35 playpen in which to compile and test, but can't use it as a hardware replacement. Fortunately, my tiny little Acer REVO1600 is still chugging along after 5 years.

Same for me, until they resolve their network issues it just doesn't work for VoIP. I'm using my servers as email AV scanners before sending on to my Exchange server via VPN connections. Keeps the unwanted bad guys from knocking at my main I'net point as an added bonus. :)

Just make sure that you are not relying on the graphic on their control panel as an indication that your utilization is close to 100%. That graphic is broken and is completely in error. Mine shows 98% utilization when in truth it is less than 2%. In fact, I think they are displaying % inactive, vs % active. :)
