TUTORIAL CLONEZILLA SE

Hi,
Can anyone write step by step instructions how to install CLONEZILLA SE on PIAF systems? from what i understand this program can clone my hard drive to another extra hard drive i have in case the current one (not ssd) is damaged i can simply swap out the old one and put the new one in and its back up and running in those few minutes.

I never actually "install" clonezilla; I run it from a "Live CD/DVD." Works well that way, possibly better than what you are proposing:

* Download a Clonezilla Live file and burn it to CD/DVD the same way you might have done previously with PIAF.

* Boot your PIAF machine with the Clonezilla Live CD/DVD. Change bios or whatever to force the machine to boot from optical drive rather than the HD. Then follow all of the prompts.

* Back up your entire PIAF installation raw hard drive, or PIAF partition (Clonezilla will give you the options) as an image on another, attached, physical hard drive (me, I use a USB hard drive for this purpose).

I've done exactly this for years and it works great and I never installed nuthin'

perfect i will do that. its sounds better than the website i read about installing. i guess that is for someone with multiple servers and want all automatic backups constantly rather than manually like your instructions above. but your instructions is what i need anyways.

As a further step, Clonezilla will let you burn the backup into a self booting .iso.
If your installation dies or you bork it, you just drop the cd/DVD in and restore.
I love Clonezilla.
