NEWS FLASH CentOS Trademark Application Suspended

In response to a filing by Red Hat's attorneys in May, the USPTO examining attorney has suspended further action on the CentOS trademark application.

May 8 Red Hat filing

Sorry - just skimmed it, but got the impression that Red Hat can not have sole use and copyright protection of the name CENTOS, correct?

This may be one of the problems. But scope of the patent matters according to "reliable sources."

Reportedly, there's also a prior ownership issue which may not surface until after the patent is initially granted... if it ever is.

"SAMSUNG CENTO" Reading the list of applicable goods and services, is there anything hardware or software that uses "Cento" in it's name that isn't covered by Samsung's trademark? Holy cow!
