NEED MORE INFO BackgroundDetect() not installed?

Hello folks,

I have a piaf running at RentPBX.com, it has asterisk v1.8.

I need BackgroundDetect() for an application I am creating, but the CLI shows the following when being executed in the dialplan:

 No application 'BackgroundDetect' for extension

issuing 'core show applications' shows that Background is installed but not BackgroundDetect.

Are there any suggestions on how to get BackgroundDetect available?

Not sure it's available at all in Asterisk 1.8. I know it wasn't reliable (for me) until Asterisk 11 and Lenny came along.

Thanks guys, I don't have it in 1.8.15.

Any suggestions on how to detect voice, and then move on in dial plan? I need the caller to say something/anything.

Hmmm, this shows it is supposed to be there.
It works fine for me. Sometimes I had to adjust the rx/tx gain on my tdm card to get it just right.
