If you have a need to create a general virtual mailbox for after our services, and you want send instant notification of a voice-mail in your inbox via sms as well as vm attachment to multiple people, here is how.
Please note:
DO not try this on your production pbx. Try it on a test machine.
Make sure you voicemail to email is working.
at command prompt type : hostname -f
This will give you your FQDN. In my case it is newpbxiaf32.local
Then on command prompt type nano /etc/aliases
In the end type this
emails: [email protected],[email protected],[email protected] (You get the picture)
After that for multiple sms Type this
pagers: [email protected],[email protected] (You get the picture)
Then CTL + X to save the changes.
Then type
newaliases
If you get no errors, you are good to go.
Next in your freepbx, go to that virtual extension.
Enable voicemail.
In the email addess filed insert
emails@yourFQDN, in my case it was [email protected]
Next, in Pager email addresses insert
pagers@your FQDN, in my case it was [email protected]
(Note if your insert emails@localhost, freepbx will complain about not a valid email address.)
Select email attachments to yes.
Save.
Leave a message, and receive multiple sms as well as emails.
Enjoy!!!!!
