The problem is when HR departments that do the initial screening against the job description and do not see the words twitter, facebook, photoshop, etc, they'll throw the resume out.

But I wouldn't want to work at those places anyway.

Where I worked, if they HAD seen the words Twitter and Facebook, they would have thrown the resume out. :wink5:

Not only would I not be impressed at the alternative, I find it difficult to read and busy.. and I work in a modern/media field!

Perhaps it would be good for a PR/Marketing job though.. but still seems like a bit much. What's with the QR code?

You'd need to communicate with Carter Gibson, the author of the article. His email address is shown. He does some of these for folks, and I'm sure he could be motivated by a little cash. :piggy:

Resume+ was simply a term someone used to describe his Alternative Resume.

It really depends on the position you are applying for. If you are applying for a technical position don't put together an artsy resume. The employer will wonder what if being a tech is what you are best suited for. If you are applying for a graphics oriented position then better have the pretty resume that looks artsy.

I recently put together a crash website on How to Find a Job for my students.

Sample Template

I've taken a crack at building a Word template that folks could use to generate something similar to the Alternative above. Feel free to embellish it and post your additions. Did I mention... I HATE MICROSOFT WORD!!! Could have built this in 15 minutes with WordPerfect instead of HOURS in Word.

For unregistered visitors, you can download the template from here.
